Dr YU has more than 35 years of industrial work and research experience related to failure analysis, accident investigation, traffic accident reconstruction, fire investigation, corroion engineering, condition assessment, quality improvement, facility assessment/ inspection, materials and structure evaluation as well as expert witness in litigation and insurance claims for various industrial sectors including aerospace, marine, electrical & electronic, petrochemicals, oil & gas, transportation, building & construction. Dr YU had worked in Singapore Productivity and Standards Board (PSB) and TUV SUD PSB for 18 years, and ever as Senior Principal Consultant and Asst Vice President in charge of operation of Failure Analysis Centre, besides Nanjing Automotive Research Institute and SGS-Thomson Microelectronics. Dr YU has been included in Who’s Who in the World since 2010 and The Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award 2018(Marquis Publication, USA), and featured in Top views of The Straits Times.

As Principal Investigator, Dr YU successfully led and completed more than 1000 projects including failure analysis, fire investigation and accident investigation on damages of roller coaster, major train / MRT disruptions/accidents (power supply, vehicles, rails), accidents of cranes, vehicle collisions, aerospace engine damages, CNG taxi (car) fire and explosions, automotive steering system failure, lift wire rope breakage, building cladding (ACP) fire, landing gear failure, hovercraft accidents, failures in gas and steam turbines, notebook computer burning, failures in jack-up rigs, H2 release in huge batteries of Submarine, pipeline corrosion in Jack-up rig, failures of PCB, PCBA, LCD and IC, damages in power generators, heat exchanger burst and oil pipe leakage, power cable damages, transformer fire, explosion of power distribution system, failures and accidents in building and structures etc.

As lead author, Dr YU published dozens of technical papers in referred international journals and conferences.
Dr YU had been engaged in many technical litigations and testified in Courts as expert witness. He was ever engaged by Ministry of Transportation (MOT) and Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) for forensic investigation and failure analysis on major disruptions of Mass Rapid Transit(MRT) and testified in public hearing as key expert witness.
Dr YU correctly determined the root cause(s) of massive MRT breakdowns on July 7, 2015, just days after the incidents. His views on failure analysis and accident investigation on this massive breakdowns were later published on Top of views of (A4) in The Straits Times on July 30, 2015, which coincided with the findings and conclusions made by overseas expert team who took more than three weeks after the incidents.
